The "Tradie Tax" Struggle in Townsville

Why is it so hard for a self-employed tradie to get a fair go from the banks? I’ve got plenty of work booked through the next two years, but my tax returns make me look like a starving artist because of my business expenses. I’m looking for a broker in Townsville who actually knows how a small business works. Do I really need two years of perfect tax returns, or can someone find a lender who looks at my bank statements instead? I’m tired of being told 'no' just because I don't have a payslip.

Being self-employed shouldn’t feel like a disadvantage, but banks often worry about income consistency and tax deductions reducing reported profit. That can make standard assessment tougher for tradies with lots of work but low taxable income. A good mortgage broker for self employed knows which lenders are flexible, some of which will consider bank statements, BAS, and real cash flow instead of just tax returns. You might not need two “perfect” years, just the right lender and someone who can present your case clearly.
